It is the policy of the University of Nevada, Reno that all faculty, staff, students, postdoctoral scholars and volunteers engaged in planning and/or conducting research and other sponsored project activities receive training in the subject areas applicable to their roles and responsibilities. Please see below for information on the trainings offered through Sponsored Projects, Research Integrity & Security, Animal Resources, and Environmental Health & Safety.

New Principal Investigator (PI) training

All new PIs are required to successfully complete the Best Practices in Sponsored Projects Management training.

Completion of the above training is required before Sponsored Projects will set up a new sponsored project account for an awarded grant proposal.

Other required training

Depending upon the type of research one is performing and/or the funding source from which project funding is received, further training may be required.

  • Export controls: For researchers working on projects involving export w88 casino games logincontrolled items, technology, software, data and/or services.
  • Conflict of interest training: For researchers working on projects funded by Public Health Service (PHS) agencies, agencies that have adopted the PHS COI policy, the Department of Energy, and other sponsors that require COI training.   • HIPAA training: Required for all persons who access, use, share and/or store Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Responsible conduct of research: For all employees and students engaged in research funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and U.S. Department of Agriculture/National Institute of Food and Agriculture.
  • Protection of human subjects: For all persons involved in the design, implementation, review, and oversight of human research.
  • Animal welfare, animal care and use: For all persons engaged in animal work.
  • Safety training: Customized workplace specific training for all types of personnel.

Additional training

The tutorials below are recommended as supplementary training.

  • Sponsored Projects Academy: A training program for University of Nevada, Reno research administrators. Individuals who assist w88 live casinotheir unit or cost center with research administration are highly encouraged to attend.
  • Research Administration Partnership sessions: Quarterly lunch meetings to discuss and learn about research administration topics and to strengthen the partnerships between administrative and classified staff working on grants and sponsored projects.
  • Grant proposal budgeting: A tutorial on the fundamentals of grant proposal budgeting.
  • NIH modular budgeting: A tutorial on preparing modular budgets for grant proposals to the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
  • Sponsored project cost share: A tutorial on cost share including cost share types, cost share sources, eligible/ineligible cost share expenditures, consequences of unmet cost share obligations, and relevant University forms, policies and procedures.
  • Program income on grants: A tutorial on program income including the activities that may generate program income and the different ways sponsors treat program income. Attendees will also gain an understanding of the expenses for which program income may be used and how program income is accounted for in Workday.
  • Effort reporting: Tutorials w88 live casinoon effort reporting basics, PI responsibilities, and pre-reviewer and certifier responsibilities.
