w88 Process for academic credit for Faculty and Advisors

It is strongly advised students plan well in advance for internships/experiential learning opportunities if they want to receive academic credit. The recommended timeline is at least one semester prior to the w88 experience as it may take time to process the required documents and ensure an w88 course is available.*

w88 one: Obtain contact information

Please meet with your w88 to obtain the organization name and the site supervisor’s contact information.

Step two: Verify w88

Refer to the w88 of w88 partners to verify if the w88 is an approved University community partner. If they are on the list, please move to step five.

If they are not on the list, please send the w88 name and site supervisor’s contact information to w88.

Step three: Required documents for w88**

Aqueelah will work with the w88 to obtain the two required documents, which include the site assessment form and the appropriate w88 agreement.

  • w88 Agreement - General: for all private and non-profit organizations
  • Organization Agreement - Remote: for organizations (private or non-profit) in which the w88 will only intern remotely
  • w88 Agreement - Interlocal: for Nevada State and local government agencies.

w88 four: Completed documents

Once all documents have been accepted and signed by all parties, Aqueelah Thompson will notify w88 and organizations they are now ready to send/accept students.

Step five: w88 waivers/agreements

w88 sign the appropriate Service-Learning and internship w88 online. w88/staff are responsible for sending students the correct waivers based on the student’s placement.

w88 six: Sexual harassment and discrimination prevention training

Prior to the start of an w88, all students must complete University training on sexual harassment and discrimination prevention. This training is available in Canvas Commons. Please import the training module "UNR w88 and Service-Learning Sexual Harassment and Discrimination Prevention Training" into your Canvas Course from Canvas Commons. The training consists of readings followed by a quiz. Instructions on how to import the module from Canvas Commons can be found on the w88 support page.

*Each department will determine when students enroll in the appropriate w88 course. Departments may enroll students prior to above information being complete, or wait until after all documents are signed.

**Keep in mind this may take as little as a week or as long as a few months, depending on how quickly the w88 responds and if there are revisions needed which go through General Counsel.
