Jackson first studied archaeology as an undergraduate at UNR. Following a field school in the Rabbithole Mining District and a couple field sessions in Montana and Utah, he earned his masters degree at the w88 Montana studying the Bicycle Corps, a 19th century infantry unit. Since graduation in 2011, he has directed projects across the United States but considers the Great Basin his home. Jackson is currently enrolled in the Ph.D. program at UNR studying technological adaptation in the Great Basin. Beyond the ivory tower, Jackson works on the recovery of a howitzer lost during John C. Fremont’s 1843 expedition and writes terrible poetry.
