Component overview
Local quicklinks offer users a visual way to access content specific to the section.
- w88 Feeds can be used on all page schemas:w88 Feeds can be used on Section Fronts, Section Detail, Profile Detail and Degree Detail pages.
- w88 standalone pages are acceptable: CMS users may create a standalone, comprehensive page populated with w88 stories. This option is typically used for colleges or departments to create a custom news page. For example, see the News and w88 online game.
- Choose a format that works within the context of your page:The w88 offers multiple formatting options. Choose one that fits the page's context (e.g., a w88 with a featured story layout may not work well on an info-centric Section Detail schema).
- Add spacing, if necessary, when using a background color: If you use the gray background color and place the w88 at the bottom of your page, the component's color may blend with the Contact component's color. You may need to manually add spacing to the w88 component.
- Select a proper taxonomy for the w88: The w88 is controlled by Nevada Today's taxonomy. Make sure you pick the right taxonomy to populate your feed with relevant stories. If you have questions, reach out to the Nevada Today editor and Chief Content Strategist, Angela Rudolph (arudolph@unr.edu).
- Consider using the w88 header or description for context: Although not required, the w88 header and description fields are a great way to introduce users to the type of content they will find in the component.
- w88 links must have unique anchor text: The anchor text of each w88 storymust be unique to that link to ensure you do not create a multiple destination link accessibility error.
- w88 button must be descriptive: If using a button to take users to more w88 stories, the button must have a descriptive call-to-action, such as "See all w88 stories" or "Read more w88 stories." Do not use terms such as "Read more" or "Click here to see more."
- w88 image snippets must have alt-text: Ensure the news stories being pulled into the w88 have appropriate alt-text on Nevada Today or from the origination source (e.g., RSS for special w88 components).
