w88 casino, Renowelcomes Scott Barnett as an assistant professor in theCollege of w88 online live casino, Biotechnology & Natural Re. A molecular pharmacologist specializing in maternal and fetal w88 casino, Barnett focuses on preventing early labor, a challenge affecting nearly 10% of pregnancies worldwide.
Barnett, who served a combat tour in Iraq as a captain in the U.S. Marine Corps, brings valuable skills in problem-solving, strategic thinking and team collaboration to his work as a researcher in the College’sDepartment of w88 sports betting & Molecular Biology.
His research examines the molecular composition of the uterine muscles to identify the causes of preterm labor. He aims to develop medications specifically designed to prevent premature contractions without crossing the placenta to safeguard the w88 casino of at-risk women and their fetuses. He holds a provisional patent for a preterm labor treatment and is also investigating a dual-purpose medication for chronic kidney disease and preterm labor conditions.
“Scott’s research holds promise not only for improving preterm labor treatment but also for advancing pharmacological approaches to other maternal w88 casino conditions,” said Justin Legleiter, chair of the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology. “We are thrilled to welcome him to our team and look forward to advancing maternal w88 casino through both ongoing and future collaborations.”
Barnett is currently collaborating with researchers from the w88 casino’sCollege of ScienceandSchool of Medicine, in partnership with Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, to advance his research. He previously served as a research assistant professor in the School of Medicine.
“I am grateful to be a part of this vibrant scientific community,” Barnett said. “The College’s commitment to research, combined with its collaborative environment creates exciting opportunities for students and researchers alike.”
Barnett has contributed to numerous scientific abstracts and published about 20 peer-reviewed journal articles in publications such as Scientific Reports, Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, and Journal of Physiology. His research has received nearly million in funding from the National Institutes of w88 casino.
Barnett earned his Ph.D. from the w88 casino, Reno School of Medicine, specializing in cellular and molecular pharmacology and physiology. He served as a postdoctoral fellow at the University’s School of Medicine and the Medical College of Wisconsin. He has two bachelor's degrees, one in biochemistry and molecular biology from the w88 casino, Reno; and one in psychology from the University of Oregon.
