In a typical year, the outreach committee would be gearing up to host one of the library's most well-known events - the Edible Books Festival. This year, due to the pandemic, we've decided to celebrate here on "Checked Out" instead. Banned Books Week was launched in the 1980's - a time of increased challenges, organized protests, and the Island Tree School District v Pico 1982 Supreme Court case, which ruled that school officials can't ban books in w88 casino games login simply because of their content. It is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read. It spotlights current and historical attempts to censor books in w88 casino games login and schools and brings together the entire book community.
