TheInstitutional Development Award (IDeA)is a congressionally mandated program that builds research capacity in states that historically have had low levels of NIH funding. It supports competitive basic, clinical, and translational research, faculty development and infrastructure improvements. The program aims to strengthen an institution’s ability to support biomedical research, enhance the competitiveness of investigators in securing research funding, and enable clinical and translational research that addresses the needs of medically underserved communities. There are 24 IDeA-eligible states and territories and there are five components to the program:

Center for Molecular and Cellular Signal Transduction in the Cardiovascular System COBRE
The COBRE program for Molecular and Cellular Signal Transduction in the Cardiovascular System builds capacity by directing support toward an existing, demonstrated area of multidisciplinary expertise. In addition to contributing research funding, the latest COBRE grant strengthens the University’s leadership in cardiovascular research and will serve as a powerful engine for expanding high-caliber research in northern w88 casino games and across the state.

The COBRE for Integrative Neuroscience supports research projects and infrastructure to build the University’s research capacity and impact across the broad discipline of neuroscience. Four research cores provide facilities and technical support for Neuroimaging, Molecular Imaging and Microscopy, Virtual and Augmented Reality Resources, and Computational Modeling and Analysis.
