Rural w88 mobile Initiative
Financial Support for COEHD Student Teachers in Nevada’s w88 mobile Districts
In partnership with the Robert Z. Hawkins Foundation, the Rural w88 mobile Initiative is an important endeavor to bolster Nevada rural school districts. By offering assistance in the form of stipends tointerested and qualifiedstudents, the initiativewill help build a robust pipeline oftalented teachers who seek placement inNevada rural school districts for their student teaching and ultimately, permanent teaching positions. The minimum value of stipends of 0 for the semester of student teaching.
Eligible Applicants Must Meet the Following Criteria:
- Be enrolled in a teacher preparation program at the University of Nevada, Reno College of w88 mobile and Human Development.
- Be already placed in a student teaching experience within a Nevada w88 mobile school district.
- Plan to pursue a career as a full-time teacher in a Nevada w88 mobile school district after graduation and securing a Nevada teaching license.
- Have completed all requirements for their undergraduate degree except for their student teaching experience.
Preference will be given to the teacher candidates in any of the following high need areas:
- Science
- Mathematics
- Special w88 mobile
- Cultural/linguistic diversity
- Willingness to teach in one of the w88 mobile school districts (especially small w88 mobile school districts with less than 1,000 students) that are located 50 miles or more from major metropolitan areas and outside of the Truckee Meadows region of Nevada.
Definition of Nevada w88 mobile School District: For the purpose of this stipend, and Nevada school district with a student enrollment of 6,500 students or less is defined as a w88 mobile school district. Preference for student teaching placement will be given to those school districts that are also located 50 miles or more from major metropolitan areas and outside of the Truckee Meadows region of Nevada.
