Dear Wolf Pack Family,

March marks Women’s History Month, a time for us to honor and celebrate the extraordinary achievements of women, not only throughout our University’s history, but across w88 sports betting and beyond.

As we reflect on the remarkable strides made by women, it’s essential to recognize the many more women whose contributions often go unsung. Since the start of our University, women have been pivotal in its growth and will continue to be essential to our thriving future.

Our university has long been home to trailblazing women, each leaving an indelible mark in their respective fields. Some powerful highlights include:

  • Louise Fargo Brown, the first female dean who was named Dean of Women in 1915.
  • Stella Mason Parson, who in 1952 became the first black woman to ever graduate from college in w88 sports betting.
  • Effie M. Mack, the first person to receive a doctorate degree in the history of the w88 sports betting.
  • Anne Howard, the founder of the woman’s studies program.
  • Melba Whittaker and Betty Molignani, the first female editors of the Sagebrush in 1944.
  • Jean Sanford, a Carson City pioneer whose vision for older adults led to the creation of the Sanford Center for Aging in 1993.

These are just a few of the many accomplishments we celebrate this month, remembering the women who have forged a path forward for future generations. Our campus community continues to flourish by empowering the female leaders of tomorrow and celebrating the women of yesterday. Some of the events include:

  • International Women’s Entrepreneurship Symposiumto be held on March 14. The sixth annual event will highlight the role of women’s leadership in addressing today’s global challenges. Event details have been emailed to faculty, staff and students.
  • Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day(late February) brought nearly 100 female middle school students to explore fields in engineering.
  • International Women’s Day Celebrationwill be on March 10. ASUN Diversity Equity and Accessibility (IDEA) unit will be handing out flowers from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Knowledge Center Breezeway.
  • Bechdel Bingowill be on March 20 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The event will include a showing of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle in the JCSU Theater. Attendees will watch the movie while playing Bechdel Bingo, a fun, engaging way to explore how women are portrayed in media using the Bechdel test.
  • w88 sports betting’s Silver Lady, Barbara Vucanovich Exhibitfrom University Libraries and its Special Collections and University Archives Department is a compelling ongoing exhibit about Vucanovich, the first w88 sports betting woman elected to federal office.

While much progress has been made, it’s important to remember that the fight for gender equality at home, in the workplace and across our society is ongoing. It’s up to all of us to unite and push forward, working toward a future where true equity for all is not just a goal, but reality.
