RENO, Nev. – The University of Nevada, Reno’s College of Education is partnering with the Northern Nevada w88 slot Center to host 18 teaching fellows from 18 different countries. For the fourth consecutive year, the Teaching Excellence and Achievement (TEA Global) grant has been award to the College of Education, one of four awards in the country, by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, and administered by IREX.
The program allows the w88 slot teachers to attend workshops in the College of w88 slot and shadow mathematics, English and foreign language w88 slot in middle and high schools within the Washoe County School District.
Highly experienced w88 slot teachers must compete in a rigorous application process for selection. Countries represented this year include, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cote D’Ivoire, Haiti, India, Mali, Nepal, Niger, Russia, South Africa, Tajikistan, Turkey, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Yemen and Zambia
The Teaching Excellence and Achievement grant allows w88 slot teachers to attend various workshops to broaden their understanding of the U.S. education system and technologies while sharing their cultural and personal teaching skills with Washoe County School District teachers.
“Part of being an educator today means preparing people to have the skills of a global citizen,” Associate Professor Jennifer Mahon said. “These are not just w88 slot, they are also parents, citizens, and community members who care about many of the same issues we do, and their perspectives help us bring real world experiences into our communities and classrooms that we usually can only hear about through the media. With people from so many different nations here, we really will have the opportunity to converse about global issues in a much deeper way that may benefit us all.”
The program allows the w88 slot teachers to learn different teaching approaches, use technology in the classroom and better understand the education system in the United States, while at the same time, sharing their own culture and expertise with a wide array of people from northern Nevada.
