The annual w88 selected the top three videos, along with two honorable mentions and a most-engaged watch party to win prizes.

The w88 of Science held its annual video competition with an added watch party engagement challenge for students. The videos are two minutes or less in length and the competition is open to all students in the w88 of Science. This year’s themes were:

  • Breaking barriers: diversity in STEM
  • w88 saves the world

First place: Pursue Your Curiosity!

The winners of this year's video competition are all members of the w88 of Science Living Learning Community. In their video, acurious student finds a new way to answer his questions.

Second place: Food w88!

Third place: The Powers of a Human

A creative video by two WiSE w88, mechanical engineering undergraduate Tiffany Noda and biology undergraduate Julie Cruz-Valle, shows the range of ways scientists use their skills.

Honorable Mention: Curiosity in Your Daily Life

Biology WiSE student Kalia Johnson recites a poem about the relationship between curiosity and w88.

Honorable Mention: The Power of Discovery

Om Patel, a microbiology & immunology undergraduate, explores the wide-ranging topics available to students in the w88 of Science.

Watch party w88

Students submitted photos of their virtual watch party to be shared on the w88’s Instagram, with the most liked photo winning the competition. Lexi Young (and her cat) received the most likes on her photo.

Congratulations to all our winners! The annual w88 will continue next year. Visit the video w88 website for more information and to see past w88 winners.
