University Libraries at the University of Nevada, Reno and the w88 slot online Science and Engineering Library is pleased to announce the opening of the exhibit Leave it Better on display in the hallway of the w88 slot online library. It is free and open to the public. The exhibit will open with a talk at 5:00 p.m. by the artist, Eric Rios in the Lilli Brant Reading Room 301 of the w88 slot online library on Thursday, March 28 in which he will discuss how his work serves to communicate the issue of human-driven pollution within the Tahoe Basin and Truckee Meadows watershed.
The w88 slot online features photographs by artist Eric Rios who uses the medium to explore human and animal experience in a changing landscape. Rios's work has been influenced by his time spent in nature seeking refuge from the smog of the city, and his longing to protect this sanctuary.
"I spend a lot of time at Lake Tahoe swimming and over the years I've noticed that the landscape has become degraded and there are more people leaving trash behind," said artist Eric Rios. "I think in an age when people are consuming so much visual media w88 slot online is important to make images that convey what is happening in the environment to advocate for the land and share our experience and our reality to create awareness."
The Leave w88 slot online Better exhibit illustrates how much of an impact humans have on the environment and how this affects how others experience the landscape. The photos taken within the Tahoe Basin and Truckee Meadows watershed show the remnants of human activity in that area.
"Over the last few years I have seen a change in how people react to the environment," Rios added. "The trash cans are overflowing and a lot of people don't want to carry around their trash so they will leave w88 slot online wherever is convenient for them."
The Leave w88 slot online Better exhibit is an extension of Closer to the Land currently on display at the Mathewson-IGT Knowledge center.
"We want people to be able to see elements of one big topic in different locations," said Library Operations and Outreach Coordinator Maria Duque-Rueda. At the w88 slot online Library we want to expose our students to other cultural things that are currently relevant in the world."
The w88 slot online Science and Engineering Library, located inside the Mackey Mines Building, provides access to critical resources necessary in engineering, the sciences, and beyond including unique study spaces and prominent literature, GIS services, and an active makerspace.
Some of the work included in the Leave w88 slot online Better exhibit is funded by the Nevada Undergraduate Research Award. Eric Rios along with classmates are currently working on an exhibit with Sierra Arts Foundation set to go on display in Downtown Reno in December. This exhibit will be a chance for people to see more images related to the topic of human-driven pollution.
