A pioneering athletics administrator, the winning baseball coach in school history, a longtime radio voice and four standout athletes make up the 2018 Nevada Athletics w88 online game of Fame class, the athletics department announced recently.
The class consists of: Michael Edwards - Football (1993-97); Dan Gustin - Radio & TV Broadcaster (1975-2008); Marcelus Kemp - Men's Basketball (2002-08); Dr. Luella J. Lilly - Women's Basketball Coach (1969-76), Volleyball Coach (1975), Women's Athletic Director (1969-74), Associate AD (1975-76); Jordan McPherson - Softball (2005-08); Gary Powers - w88 online game (1970-71), w88 online game Coach (1982-2013); and Chad Qualls - w88 online game (1999-2000).
The class will officially be inducted at a dinner on Sept. 14 at the Reno Ballroom and the class will be honored again at halftime of the Wolf Pack football team's game against Oregon State the next day. For information on the w88 online game of Fame Dinner, please call (775) 682-6902.

Michael Edwards - w88 online game (1993-97)
Earned first-team All-Big West Conference honors at offensive line in 1996 and 1997...started every game in his junior and senior years...was named a team captain in 1996, one of the first junior offensive lineman to do so, and was selected again in 1997...won the Striker Award in both of his final seasons for consistently turning in above average play...helped the w88 online game Pack to a pair of Las Vegas Bowl appearances in 1995 and 1996...selected to play in Blue Grey College All-Star Game...was picked up as a free agent by the Atlanta Falcons, Washington Redskins and Oakland Raiders (practice squad)...also played two seasons for the Berlin Thunderbolts in NFL Europe and started on the offensive line...spent one year in the XFL with the Birmingham Bolts...taught science at Reno High School for 14 years, coached football for 13 years and golf for nine...trains local athletics in offensive line techniques and drills.
Dan Gustin - Radio & TV Broadcaster (1975-2008)
Served as the voice of the Wolf Pack for 33 years...called more 400 football games, 1000 basketball games and almost 1500 baseball games, all records at Nevada...has traveled and broadcast almost 3,000 games in 40 states including domes in New Orleans, Indianapolis and St. Louis, six bowl games, six NCAA basketball tournaments and four NCAA baseball championships... also did broadcasting for local television broadcasts... for 25 years, his company, Gustin Sports Productions, held the sales and broadcast rights for Nevada Athletics...has received a lifetime achievement award for advertising, an Emmy in radio production and Advertising Man of the Year award...has been inducted into the Nevada Broadcasters Association w88 online game of Fame...since leaving Nevada served as the voice of the Reno Bighorns and has worked in collaboration with the NIAA to broadcast the NIAA/GSP high school game of the week called "Friday Night Rivals" on local TV...is a past president of the Truckee Meadows Boys and Girls Club and co-founder of the Pee Wee Basketball League.
Marcelus Kemp - Men's w88 online game (2002-08)
Helped the w88 online game Pack to four Western Athletic Conference regular-season championships and three NCAA Tournament appearances in his career...started 83 of 134 contests in his career...set Nevada's career records for three-pointers made (227) and attempted (597)...ranks third on Nevada's career scoring list with 1,939 points, trailing only Nick Fazekas (2,464 points) and Deonte Burton (2,102)...is one of just 27 players in the w88 online game Pack's 1,000-point club...also ranks in the w88 online game Pack career top 10 for three-point percentage (T7th, .380), field goals made (3rd, 679) and attempted (3rd, 1,528), three-pointers made (2nd, 227), three-point field goal attempts (2nd, 597) and free throw percentage (4th, .825)... earned first-team All-WAC honors in 2007 and 2008...was named to the 2008 National Association of Basketball Coaches District 13 first team and the United States Basketball Writers Association District 8 team in 2009...was named the team Most Valuable Player and won the program's Rock Award as the player who best represents the identity and foundation of the team (chosen by the coaches and student-athletes) that year...earned 2008 CollegeHoops.net Honorable Mention High-Major All-America honors and Nevada's Doc Martie Award as the university's top male senior student-athlete... played overseas in Italy after leaving Nevada.
Dr. Luella J. Lilly - Women's Basketball & Volleyball Coach (1969-76), w88 online game (1969-76)
Was instrumental in the development of Nevada varsity women's athletics and was a champion for women's sports during her career... served as Nevada's women's athletics director from 1969-76... spent two years as Nevada's Associate AD when the women's athletics and men's athletics were combined in the mid-1970s... also spent eight seasons coaching Nevada's women's basketball and volleyball teams from 1969-76... led the Wolf Pack volleyball team to its first and only conference championship in the Northern California Intercollegiate Athletic Association in 1975... left Nevada to become the first Director of Women's Intercollegiate Athletics at the University of California... established 10 endowed scholarships and led the Cal Bears to 28 conference championships and four national championships... was presented the Lifetime Achievement Award by the National Association of Collegiate Women's Athletic Administrators... established the Cal Women's w88 online game of Fame (now part of the Cal Athletics w88 online game of Fame) ... was the first female administrator inducted into the Cal Athletics w88 online game of Fame in 2005.
Jordan McPherson - Softball (2005-08)
One of the best pitchers in school history... would be just the second Wolf Pack softball player inducted into the w88 online game of Fame and the first representing softball since the sport was reinstated in 2003... led the Wolf Pack to the 2006 Western Athletic Conference Tournament championship and the first NCAA Regional appearance in school history... earned first-team All-WAC honors in 2008 and was a second-team honoree in 2006... five-time WAC pitcher of the week... pitched every inning of the 2006 WAC Tournament and gave up no earned runs en route to being named the WAC Tournament MVP... also helped the Wolf Pack to the 2008 WAC regular-season title and another NCAA Regional bid... ranks first in school history in career appearances (167), games started (131), shutouts (17) and innings pitched (795.2)... ranks second in career wins (65), complete games (69) and strikeouts (598)... holds nearly every single-season pitching records including games started, complete games, shutouts, innings pitched and strikeouts... threw a pair of no-hitters in her career (April 26, 2008 vs. La Tech and April 14, 2007 vs. San Jose State).

Retired in 2013 after 31 years at the helm of the w88 online game Pack baseball program, turning Nevada into one of the premier baseball programs in the West... two-year starting pitcher for the w88 online game Pack in 1970-71, setting then team records for appearances and innings pitched... earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Nevada... finished his career with a 937-762-5 career record... his 937 wins ranked 21st among active coaches when he retired... led the w88 online game Pack to four NCAA Regional Appearances (1994, 1997, 1999 and 2000)... four-time conference coach of the year... led Nevada to a WAC championship, two Big West Conference titles and two Big West divisional championships... produced 17 All-Americans, 146 all-conference honorees and six conference players of the year... also saw 79 of his players drafted by Major League Baseball... had 19 winning seasons and won 30 or more games in 16 of his final 23 years... had nine winning seasons during the 1990s, ranking in the top 40 in winning percentage in the decade while playing in the Big West Conference, one of the top baseball leagues in the conference.

Played two seasons as a starting pitcher for the w88 online game Pack...helped his team to the NCAA Regionals both seasons and an overall record of 76-39...earned second-team All-Big West honors in 1999 and first-team honors in 2000...turned in a career record of 22-7 in 33 starts (34 games)... struck out 199 hitters in 235.2 innings... holds the school record with 113 strikeouts in 2000 and is eighth in career strikeouts... ranks fifth in career wins in the Nevada record book... led the team in victories with 11 in both 1999 and 2000 (third on the w88 online game Pack single-season list)... had a career ERA of 4.28 in an era of very lively bats... ...was taken in the second round of the 2000 Major League Baseball Draft by the Houston Astros... made his Major League debut with the Houston Astros on July 22, 2004 and went onto play for 14 seasons as a relief pitcher... played for nine teams during his long Major League career...appeared in the 2005 World Series for the Houston Astros.
