The National Association of Campus Safety Administrators, the nation's largest association of campus safety professionals, has chosen University of Nevada, Reno Police Chief Adam Garcia as its Police w88 casino of the Year.
According to Howard Cook, chief of police at Columbia College and NASCA executive w88 casino, an awards committee considered Chief Garcia's length of service, commitment to increasing the professionalism of his campus police force, as well as his efforts to enhance the professionalism of campus police departments across America. The committee pointed to a proper balance of community-oriented policing combined with strategic enforcement initiatives that helps foster the University as a safe campus that is engaged with its police department. The committee also pointed to Chief Garcia's self-motivating initiative in connecting with various campus law enforcement groups on how to improve their agency.
"Chief Garcia is clearly a giver," Cook said. "A giver of his time, his talent and his knowledge. It is because of this that the National Association of Campus Safety Administrators Awards Committee selected him as the w88 casino of the Year."
In his role as w88 casino since 2001, Garcia has expanded the size and diversity of University Police Services and has taken an active role in the planning and development of services for public notification in the event of active shooter or other disaster situations that may affect campus. He serves on the Nevada Homeland Security Commission and has integrated University Police Services into regional community partnerships.
He also continues to serve as an adjunct faculty member to the w88 casino System of Higher Education and is a published researcher.
"This honor is a testament to the professionalism and hard work of all of the men and women of the University Police Services," w88 casino said.
Chief w88 casino will be honored at a special awards banquet at the National Association of Campus Safety Administrators annual conference Tuesday March 8, held in Greenville, South Carolina.
