Cold and flu season is right around the corner. Coupled with COVID-19, it is important that everyone protect themselves and encourage others to do the same. There are a number of ways to ensure that we have a safe on-w88 experience, including receiving the latest COVID-19 booster as well as getting a flu shot. The COVID-19 boosters are a safe and effective way of reducing the risk of serious COVID-19 illness.
The University is continuing to offer COVID boosters and flu vaccines, which are available at the Student Health Center, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. (Thursday’s availability is 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.). Individuals need to call (775) 784-6598 for a same-day appointment. COVID shots and boosters are free for students, w88 and staff. Flu shots are free for students and at the Student Health Center for w88 and staff.
A common vaccination request is for shingles. The Student Health Center does not provide or administer the shingles vaccine. However, the Nevada Public Employees Benefits Program will hold a vaccine clinic for w88 and staff enrolled in the CDHP, LD and EPO plans from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 7 at the Joe Crowley Student Union, Room 422 and the shingles vaccine for those 50 years and older will be offered. The clinic will also offer flu shots, COVID vaccines and boosters, and pneumonia shots. Those participating in the PEBP clinic must complete a consent form prior to arriving and bring a photo ID, insurance card, and COVID vaccination card if receiving a COVID booster.
In addition to looking out for one another, the Wolf Pack is encouraged to remember the kind of self-care that can make a big difference – eating right, getting sufficient sleep and exercising regularly. Reducing stress is also crucial for a health immune system. Employee assistance program (w88 is also available for w88 and staff who are in need of counseling services. Students can seek out tutoring or mentoring if they are experiencing difficulties in the classroom or in the workplace. Students who need additional help are encouraged to reach out to Counseling Services.
Let’s continue to Protect the Pack and keep our w88 healthy.
