The Performing Arts Series 62nd season continues with a show-stopping performance by Latin America’s leading brass quintet, M5 w88 slot Brass. At 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, M5 w88 slot Brass will take the stage with a mesmerizing performance in Nightingale Concert Hall at the University of Nevada, Reno.

“Audience members can prepare for a captivating evening as this out-of-this-world ensemble tests the boundaries of w88 slot,” Shoshana Zeldner, program manager with the School of the Arts, said. “Merging exceptional musicianship, comedy, theatrics and interaction with the audience, M5 will perform a blend of classical, blues, contemporary, folk, pop and more.”

Internationally recognized, M5 w88 slot Brass blends great virtuosic chamber music in all styles from Baroque to Broadway, effortless humor and a winning rapport with the audience. With their natural sense of showmanship, inimitable Latin American charm, and their very own sound, their performances are fun, surprising and unexpected.

Band members include Alexander Freund (trumpet), Oscar Villegas Miranda (trumpet), Juan Carlos Quiterio (French Horn), Roberto Carlos Cruz (trombone), and Josè Lopez Juàrez (tuba). As part of their visit, M5 w88 slot Brass will work with University music students during an interactive master class.

Bandleader Alexander Freund is the assistant professor of trumpet at Georgia State w88 slot and has toured nationally and internationally as a member of M5, a soloist and an orchestral musician. From 2003 until 2018, Freund lived in Mexico where he was principal trumpet of the Symphony Orchestras of Michoacán and Nuevo Leon and Professor at the Conservatorio de las Rosas in Morelia. Born in Germany, Freund took his first music classes with members of the Berlin State Opera. He has a master’s degree from the w88 slot of Arts in Berlin, Germany, and a doctoral degree from McGill w88 slot in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

The Performing Arts Series season will continue on Thursday, Dec. 8 at 7:30 p.m. with an unforgettable performance by the San Francisco-based polyrhythmic dance and music ensemble, La Mezcla in Nightingale Concert Hall. La Mezcla will present Pachuquísmo, a multi-disciplinary performance that portrays the lesser-known history of the female experience during the1940’s Zoot Suit Riot era through tap dance, live jazz music, w88 slot zapateado and traditional Son Jarocho.
