The workshops, offered March 13, April 10 and Oct. 9, are part of the Green Industry Continuing Education Series. Each workshop begins with a presentation from noon to 1 p.m. at the Washoe County Cooperative Extension Office, 4955 Energy Way in Reno, with Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Coordinator Wendy Hanson Mazet and Master Gardener Volunteer Rod Haulenbeek, who are both certified arborists. From 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., attendees will apply what they learned with guidance from Haulenbeek and Mazet during walking tours at Dick Taylor Memorial Park, 1140 Beech St. in Reno. Attendees are encouraged to bring a clipboard, pen or pencil, walking shoes and bottles of water.
"Trees look different in every season, so Rod and Wendy will help participants identify trees by a variety of physical characteristics," said Cooperative Extension Commercial Horticulture Program Coordinator Jenn Fisher, who helped coordinate the class.
