University of Nevada freshman Mitchell Van Patten has earned National w88 mobile Association honorable mention All-America smallbore honors. In February Van Patten was selected to the Patriot w88 mobile Conference team for his performance this season on the w88 mobile range. He is the first Wolf Pack PRC honoree since the conference was formed in 2013.
The Nampa, Idaho native is the Pack's first NRA All-American since Dempster Christensen earned the honor in 2012. Christensen is one of the top USA shooters and is battling for spot in the Olympics.
"We appreciate the NRA's recognition of Mitchell's shooting skills and are excited about the coming year's schedule," head coach Fred Harvey said."
Van Patten was the Wolf Pack's most consistent shooter this season. His 1173 aggregate score that combines smallbore and air w88 mobile is tops on the team. The high aggregates score has occurred twice this season.
At the NCAA qualifier he shot a season-high 595 score in air w88 mobile that is second only to teammate Emily Capaul's 597 that tied the school record. Van Patten has two other scores over 590 this season, a 594 against #5 Alaska and a 592 at the Buckeye Invitational.
His 582 in smallbore is also second on the squad. Twice he posted the 582 against UTEP and at the PRC Championships. In addition he shot two scores of 581 and two of 580 on the season.
