The University of Nevada men's w88 team and six members of the squad have been recognized by the Intercollegiate w88 Association for their work in the classroom. The team was selected as an All-Academic team and six individuals were named ITA Scholar Athletes.
"Our team has been working really hard on and off the court," head coach Sylvain Malroux said. "Getting this special award shows how much dedication they put into their academics. We are so proud to show that not only w88 is a focus for them, but that getting their degree with outstanding achievement is equally important."
Senior Robert Allan, freshman Aaron Breust, senior Billy Bumgardner, junior Mile Cilic, freshman Sandro Lena and sophomore Peter O'Donovan were named w88 Scholar Athletes.
Allan from Perth, Australia played four seasons for the Wolf Pack. As a sophomore he set the school record with 21 doubles wins and played in the NCAA Tournament with Victor Ouvrard. The duo won 27 career doubles matches that is second most in school history. He is a two-time MW academic and Scholar Athlete.
A native of Albury, Australia Breust was an MW Scholar Athlete as a freshman and served on the w88 Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Bumgardner missed time his senior year with a broken ankle. The New Orleans native lettered three times playing for the Wolf Pack.
Cilic from Medjugorje, Bosnia-Herzegovina has twice earned All-MW academic and Scholar Athlete honors playing for the Pack. As a junior he played No. 2 and 3 singles.
Lena joined the team for the spring semester last season. The Villecresnes, France freshman played singles in spots No. 3-6.
O'Donovan from Manchester, England, lettered for the second time last season seeing court time at singles spots three through six.
