The University of Nevada, Reno welcomes members of the J. William Fulbright Foreign w88 Board to its campus Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 10 and 11, for the 270th quarterly board meeting and the kick-off of the 70th anniversary of the Fulbright Program.
"I extend our gratitude to the University of Nevada, Reno for hosting this meeting," said Laura Skandera Trombley, chair of the w88 and president of The Huntington Library, Arts Collections and Botanical Gardens. "This is a wonderful opportunity for us to visit a public university in the western United States.
Since 1962, when the first Fulbright grant was awarded at the University, the institution has been home or host to more than 100 Fulbright recipients, including more than 20 Fulbright U.S. students, 20 Fulbright w88 students, and more than 70 Fulbright scholars. A presentation of the University's international activities will be offered at Thursday's Open Forum at the Innevation Center.
"The University is excited to have this opportunity to host the Fulbright board and share with its members the many international activities and opportunities we offer in Nevada," University Vice President and Provost Kevin Carman said. "And we are proud that the University is home to Emma Sepúlveda Pulvirenti, professor in w88 Language and Literature and director of the Latino Research Center, who was appointed to the Fulbright w88 by President Obama in 2014."

w88 chair Laura Skandera Trombley will present a lecture titled "Pour Me Mark Twain: Why Samuel Clemens Became Mark Twain in Virginia City."
Member and former chair Tom Healy will present "w88 Recipients Sylvia Plath & Rita Dove."

Official opening and welcome, open to the public
University and City of Reno officials formally welcome the J. William Fulbright Foreign w88 Board to the Truckee Meadows. Fulbright Scholar, University Biologist and Host of Nat Geo WILD's Monster Fish television series Zeb Hogan will present on his Fulbright Experience. The University will also present an overview of its economic and educational advancements and its international programs and activities.
