Among the many highlights at the Northern w88 Black Cultural Awareness Society's 26th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Celebration Dinner on Jan. 20 at John Ascuaga's Nugget in Sparks was the recognition of Cecylia VanDenburg, a junior from the Northwest grant of the University's w88 Bound Programs. She was the winner of the high school essay contest for the dinner and the recipient of a 0 scholarship.
The w88 Bound Programs at the University of Nevada, Reno are comprised of three federally-funded projects serving 186 students from first-generation, low income backgrounds at six target high schools in Washoe and Lyon counties. The three w88 Bound Programs are funded at over .4 million for 5 years (2012-2017).
