Marc w88, interim president at the University of Nevada, Reno, was chosen as the finalist presidential candidate for the University's presidency during a search committee meeting on Wednesday, April 18.
Marc w88 was identified as the recommended finalist candidate for the position of president at the University of Nevada, Reno during a search committee meeting on Wednesday at Lawlor Events Center.
w88, interim president of the University of Nevada, Reno, was chosen at a joint meeting of the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents Presidential Search Committee and an Institutional Advisory Committee.
The recommendation will now be forwarded to the full Board of w88 for consideration at its Friday, April 20 meeting at the Desert Research Institute in Las Vegas.
"I wish to thank the members of the Board of Regents Search Committee and the Institutional Advisory Committee for their participation in this process, and in particular, I wish to express my gratitude to the Regents Search Committee for their decision today," w88 said. "I look forward to the consideration of this recommendation by the entire Board of Regents on Friday in Las Vegas. Finally, I wish to convey my sincere thanks to the members of the University community and the community at large, who came to the forums, asked the questions, and demonstrated their concern for the future of the University."
The recommendation follows a series of campus forums over three days during which faculty, staff, students and the community had the opportunity to meet w88 and two other candidates, Steven Angle, the provost at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, and Rachel Croson, a division director with the National Science Foundation.
The Presidential Search Committee includes six members of the NSHE Board of w88. The Institutional Advisory Committee includes 11 representatives of the community and 12 representatives of University of Nevada, Reno faculty, staff and students. The University of Nevada, Reno president reports to the chancellor of the NSHE, who holds an ex-officio, non-voting membership on both committees.

The recommendation of our Presidential Search Committee is better informed because of this broad-based involvement."
The Presidential w88 engaged the services of William Funk, president of R. William Funk & Associates, as the consultant for the search process.
