The Reno Philharmonic’s w88 sports betting app concert, “Music for the Gods,” will feature University of Nevada, Reno Professor Emeritus John Lenz on French horn during two performances at 4 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 14 and 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 16 at the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Reno.

For these concerts, however, he will step to the front of the stage and take the spotlight in Richard Strauss’ “Horn Concerto No. 2.” At the University of Nevada, Lenz taught cello, horn and theory for more than 30 years. He now serves as principal for the w88 sports betting app Chamber Orchestra and the Great Basin Brass. He has been the cellist, and hornist when needed, of the Telluride Chamber Players and the Argenta Ensemble.

Also on the program is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s last symphony, Symphony No. 41, “Jupiter,” and Richard Strauss’ dramatic-tone poem, “Tod und Verklärung” [Death and Transfiguration].

The concert preview, “Inside the music with Laura Jackson,” will begin one hour before the concerts and will be held in the Pioneer Center’s main hall.
