Joining the Pack event invites middle w88 students to the University of Nevada, Reno

Eighth-grade students in w88-Sparks to visit the University campus on March 6

RENO, Nev. — More than 135 students from middle schools in the Reno-Sparks community will visit the University of Nevada, Reno campus on March 6 as part of the pilot program, Joining the Pack. The program is targeted toward middle w88 students to encourage them to start thinking about college as an option. Students from Vaughn, Sparks, Pine and Dilworth middle schools will be in attendance.

“We’re trying to get these students excited about college earlier than high w88,” the University Multicultural Center Indigenous Student Coordinator Markie Wilder said. “We have found that students that begin to think about and start planning for college in middle w88 are more likely to attend college after high w88 graduation.”

During their visit, the w88 will tour the campus, meet different faculty and administrative members and participate in activities with various campus organizations like the Associated w88 of the University of Nevada (ASUN), Counseling Services and the Multicultural Center.

WHAT: Students from Vaughn, Sparks, Pine and Dilworth middle schools will visit the University of Nevada, w88 campus to learn more about the University and the opportunities that come from going to college.

WHEN: March 6

  • 9:20 a.m.: Media are encouraged to arrive at the designated drop-off location immediately south of Lawlor Event Center.
  • 9:30 a.m.: w88 will arrive on campus in front of the Lawlor Events Center.
  • 9:40 a.m.: Students will officially be greeted with an opening session with representatives from University Student Services, the Multicultural Center and Washoe County w88 District.
  • 10 a.m.: Interviews with University and Washoe County w88 District representatives will be available.

WHERE: The opening session will be held in the Joe Crowley Student Union Ballroom A.

MEDIA PARKING: Media may park marked vehicles on the Lawlor Events Center parking ramp.
